Oscars, Red Sea Adventure & Travel Contests

I have to admit I wasn’t a big fan of the remake of The Great Gatsby, but I can’t argue with the fact that its Oscar nominations for Catherine Martin in both “Best Achievement in Costume Design” and “Best Achievement in Production” are worthy. In honor of those nominations, The Plaza Hotel in New York (a place I do love) is celebrating.

The Fitzgerald Suite at The Plaza debuted last May in honor of the hotel’s former patron, F. Scott Fitzgerald himself. This 700 sq. ft. suite was even designed by Martin so staying there is a great way to celebrate the movie. In addition, The Plaza New York City is offering a “Sunday Night Screening” package which includes a spa treatment and a cocktail, the Moet Imperial Gatsby.

While I was at the Mote Marine Lab & Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida, I learned about one of its largest supporters, Dr. Eugenie Clark. Dr. Clark has continued to dive into her senior years and would like to bring some lovers of marine life along to celebrate her 92nd birthday.

You can join Dr. Clark (aka Shark Lady) from April 29-May 6 on a trip to Israel and Jordan to dive reefs of the Red Sea. For more information on this once in a lifetime opportunity, contact Becky Wilson at 941-388-4441, ext. 348, or email her at bwilson@mote.org.

Skype and I haven’t always gotten along, but I hear it works a lot better with Windows 8.1.  Windows and Skype have joined together to provide a unique opportunity for a European adventure to a lucky winner.

If you are chosen for the Skype European Dream Trip, you will receive a two week trip through Europe for yourself and a guest. You’ll be given essential travel equipment, a Nokia Lumia 1020 camera and the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 to document your time aboard and, of course, Skype your family and friends back home.

You can enter the contest at the online.

If you are engaged (or are planning to get engaged), here’s something you can’t miss. The Islands of the Bahamas is sponsoring dream weddings for 16 different couples on 16 islands in the Bahamas. The tourism board would like to everyone to know just how romantic the islands are.

The wedding day isn’t flexible, it will be on January 16, 2015. All of the couples will be provided with air travel, accommodations, meals and a dream wedding that includes wedding rings, tuxedos, bridal gowns, a reception and wedding cake.

To enter “16 Weddings, 16 Islands, One Priceless Day,” visit the official website of the contest.
