So Much To Do, So Little Time

Image
I keep apologizing for being behind on reviewing products I receive. It’s time to make some decisions about how I handle things going forward. In the meantime, I am getting toward empty shelves. Here are some of my latest favorite products.  This post contains affiliate links. If you are looking for more, check out these links. Not only will you find some unique things, but you’ll help me out as I get a commission on these. It’s always time for ice cream…                                          I love ice cream any time of year and I had a lot of fun making some with Hijinx . No ice cream machine is needed. Just use a blender to put your favorite ingredients together for your preferred flavor. The only requirement is milk and the best part of Hijinx is that you can use any milk you want. I put together low-fat milk (the mix does have a high 11-gram fat content), peanut ...

It’s Halloween week, which means it’s time for parties – and partying. Here’s a few things you’ll want to check out. Let’s Get Monster Smashed… It’s the perfect title for this book: Let’s Get Monster Smashed, Horror Movie Drinks for a Killer Time . It’s put together by Jon and Marc Chait, and the book is as colorful as the drinks. It all starts with a great breakdown of liquors and liqueurs, everything from vodka to Lillet Blanc. You’ll also find a section listing all the tools you will need to make these deliciously monstrous drinks, as well as “Satanic Syrups” you need to know how to make. I highly recommend adding this book to your bar. Here’s a few of my favorites: Monkey Brain (peach brandy, cream liqueur and grenadine), to drink during Faces of Death; Pazuzu’s Puke (brandy, dark rum, milk, vanilla sugar, green food coloring and corn flakes), to go with a night watching The Exorcist; and Big Fishbowl Punch (white rum, blue curacao, lemon lime soda and shark gummies), ...

National Tequila Day and More

Image
I’m known for the fact that I like variety. I eat and drink different things every day, at every meal. There’s only two things you can always count on: I’ll have some form of yogurt each day, and I’ll always celebrate National Tequila Day. The reason for the latter goes beyond my obvious love of spirits. July 24 th also happens to be my birthday. My latest tequila… Given these two facts colliding on one day, I usually receive quite a bit of tequila just before today. This year, three arrived, and they are all quite special. Casamigos Tequila is the brand created by George Clooney and Rande Gerber. The two celebrities were not looking for a money-making scheme. Instead, they were looking for a great tequila to drink while the friends vacationed in Mexico. They say some people have the power to turn everything they touch into gold and these two are proof. Their little project was recently sold for nearly a billion dollars to spirits giant Diageo. According...

I've received samples of lots of stuff for summer. Here are some I really liked and I'd like to pass along. Sam Adams Beers of Summer… I gathered some beer lovers to test out the Sam Adams Beers of Summer variety pack and they weren’t disappointed. The variety includes six very different brews, with something guaranteed to satisfy everyone in your group so it’s the perfect addition to your summer barbecues, picnics, and other events. Sam Adams Boston Lager This light beer is a bit sweeter than bitter, making it a light drinking summer choice. Sam Adams Summer Ale You’ll find lots of citrus, from lemon to orange, in this summer ale, which also has a bit of spice. Even better than last year’s version. Sam Adams Whitewater IPA Lots of wheat and hops in this complex beer, which combines fruit and spice. Might be a bit much to have more than one on a hot summer day. Sam Adams Got to Gose            ...

A Few Things that have Arrived on my Doorstep…

My longest lasting relationship in the last few years has been with the FedEx guy. I’m always smiling when he comes to the door and all he requires from me is a signature. Here’s some of the latest and greatest from my deliveries… Salted Caramel Kahlua For those of you that love the combination of sweet and salty, this one’s for you. I’m not a big salt eater and I still found Salted Caramel Kahlua to be a delicious treat that should be on every bar. Another thing I love about this spirit is that it doesn’t require any work. You can throw it in Coffee or hot chocolate for a wonderful warm-up, add some vodka for a special martini, or just serve it over ice with or without club soda. If you do want to get more creative, here’s an idea I find especially appealing… Colorado Bulldog 1 Part Salted Caramel Kahlua 1 Part Absolut Vodka 1 Part Cream Cola to top Shake the Kahlua, vodka, and cream with ice. Strain into a short glass filled with ice, leaving roo...
